PAILEvidence Runtime
Use cases

When a wrong answer has a real consequence.

PAIL checks whether the evidence belongs to the right person, case, machine, policy, place, and moment before an AI is allowed to answer.

No AI vocabulary required.Bring records and a question. PAIL returns proof, disagreement, or an honest refusal.

One simple idea

Do not let a plausible record become a false fact.

1Something can go wrong

Similar names, old documents, neighboring events, and conflicting systems create convincing mistakes.

2PAIL checks the boundary

Identity, relation, time, state, source, and policy must agree.

3Your team gets a clear result

Verified evidence, a visible conflict, or a refusal when proof is missing.

01 People-facing work

Give a helpful answer without inventing a promise.

For teams answering customers or reviewing documents, the correct version and entitlement matter more than a similar paragraph.

Customer support

Answer from the policy that actually applies.

A support assistant can be friendly without promising something the customer is not entitled to receive.

Prevent

A refund, warranty, or service promise based on the wrong plan or an expired policy.

PAIL checks

Customer, product, region, plan, policy version, effective date, and required approval.

Team receives

Supported options with the exact policy source, or a clear missing-evidence notice.

Document review

Quote the right clause, not the nearest sentence.

Useful for internal procedures, contracts, manuals, and controlled policy libraries.

Prevent

An outdated clause or unrelated document being presented as the current answer.

PAIL checks

Document identity, section, revision, effective date, and cited source location.

Team receives

Bounded excerpts with provenance and unknowns, not an invented legal conclusion.

02 Operational work

Keep one incident, asset, or batch separate from the noise.

Operational data arrives interleaved. PAIL keeps the investigation attached to the thing that actually failed.

IT incident investigation

Build the timeline before naming the cause.

PAIL assists RCA by organizing observed evidence. It does not pretend correlation proves causality.

Prevent

A similar error from another host or trace becoming the official root-cause story.

PAIL checks

Incident, trace, service, host, time window, event order, and source consistency.

Team receives

A bounded timeline, observed cause fields, contradictions, and unresolved gaps.

Field service

Send the technician evidence for the machine in front of them.

Useful when many similar assets share manuals, parts, alarms, and maintenance histories.

Prevent

Repair steps or service history from the wrong model, serial number, or site.

PAIL checks

Asset ID, model, site, work order, fault code, service date, and manual revision.

Team receives

Relevant history and instructions, plus any diagnostic fact still missing.

Manufacturing quality

Trace a defect to the correct production evidence.

Keep a lot, line, machine, inspection, and specification connected during review.

Prevent

A defect being attributed to the wrong batch, test run, or specification version.

PAIL checks

Lot, batch, line, machine, inspection sequence, operator record, and spec revision.

Team receives

The affected evidence set, visible disagreements, and a human-review boundary.

03 Sensitive records

Keep identities and decisions from crossing.

PAIL can prepare a review packet. It does not replace a licensed reviewer, legal judgment, or an organization's approval controls.

Insurance and claims

Keep one claimant, policy, event, and coverage version together.

The runtime supports evidence review without approving or rejecting a claim on its own.

Prevent

Another person's record or an expired coverage rule entering the claim summary.

PAIL checks

Claim, policy, claimant, provider, incident date, coverage version, and source.

Reviewer receives

A verified claim packet or an explicit identity, coverage, or source conflict.

Financial reconciliation

Explain one exception without mixing neighboring records.

This is one use case, not the whole product.

Prevent

A nearby payment, customer, retry, or settlement event changing the explanation.

PAIL checks

Record identifiers, account relation, event order, final state, and conflicting owners.

Analyst receives

The bounded reconciliation evidence or a hard stop when systems disagree.

04 Disconnected work

Check local evidence when the cloud is unavailable.

The current product supports a standalone local node. Managing a production fleet of devices requires additional enrollment, key, update, and monitoring infrastructure.

Offline branch or remote site

Continue bounded checks during a network outage.

Useful for branches, service depots, field gateways, or air-gapped offices with approved local data.

Prevent

A stale checkpoint or neighboring local record being accepted as current truth.

PAIL checks

Node, source, signature, sequence, recency, record identity, and local policy version.

Site receives

A local verified packet, a stale-data warning, or a refusal until evidence returns.

05 Research direction

Give machines evidence memory, not imaginary certainty.

This is an active research path. PAIL is not currently a certified robot controller or a substitute for real-time safety systems.

Robotics and machine memory

Connect an observation to the correct device, task, and moment.

A future machine can use PAIL as a bounded memory gate around perception and planning models.

Prevent

A stale or misidentified sensor observation silently becoming the basis for action.

PAIL checks

Robot, sensor, frame, task, timestamp, state relation, and contradiction history.

Machine receives

A machine-readable evidence packet or a stop signal when confidence lacks proof.

Thirty-second fit check

Should your workflow use PAIL?

Answer these in plain language. Three or more yes answers make a controlled evaluation worthwhile.

  1. 1

Could two people, cases, machines, or document versions be confused?

    Yes
  2. 2

    Can two trusted sources disagree?

    Yes
  3. 3

Must the system refuse when proof is missing?

    Yes
  4. 4

Would a reviewer need the exact source behind the answer?

    Yes
Start with one real mistake

Show PAIL what must never be mixed.

Use sanitized or synthetic records. Include a correct answer, a contradiction, and one question with no answer.
